KINSEY       ARCHITECTURE

SELECTED PROJECTS

The Loesch Residence was featured in the 2001 Parade of Homes in Santa Fe.

The constraints of the site dictated a long narrow plan which provided an opportunity for wonderful light and ventilation which were incorporated into the design. There is a carport / breezeway that separates the main house from the smaller working studio. The entry is at the end of a long covered porch which opens into the central living space with vaulted ceilings and fireplace.

The architectural style of this residence relys on Northern New Mexico forms with its pitched metal roof and tall rectangular windows. There is however a hierarchy and rhythm that is quite contemporary. The central pitched form is the main living space and entry which is also the tallest form and most dominate. A pair of similar pitched forms are found at each end of the home; intentionally lower, which act to balance the entire elevation, much like book ends. Within this hierarchy, there is a window rhythm incorporating only two different size windows, which provide infinite possibilities, but always balance. The elevation has a comfortable and familiar appearance but is deliberately engaging and contemporary.
